Frequently Asked Questions About Remote Online Notarization
Do I have to be in Florida to use Notary Boss?
No. You may be located outside Florida while participating in an eligible Remote Online Notarization. Your Florida Remote Online Notary must be physically located in Florida when performing the online notarization.
What do I need for an online notarization?
You'll generally need a compatible device with internet access, a camera and microphone, an acceptable form of identification, and the document you need notarized. Additional identity verification may be required through the secure RON platform.
Can I use Notary Boss if I'm in another state?
Yes. You don't have to be in Florida. I do. Florida law allows a registered Florida Remote Online Notary who is physically located in Florida to perform eligible online notarizations even when the signer or witnesses are located in another state. This means that even if Remote Online Notarization is unavailable or limited through notaries where you live, you may still be able to use Notary Boss in Florida. Document, transaction, recording, and receiving-party requirements can vary, so eligibility should be confirmed before your signing.
Can I use a Remote Online Notary while I'm outside the United States?
In some circumstances, yes. Florida law permits certain online notarizations involving principals located outside the United States, subject to additional statutory requirements. Contact Notary Boss with your document and location so the signing can be reviewed for eligibility.
How long does Remote Online Notarization take?
Timing depends on the documents and signing requirements, but RON eliminates the need to travel to an in-person notary appointment.
